Ts: What type of fashion are you into and how did you get into it?
Kg: I’m into urban fashion. I got into when I was 12. The first thing I ever made was a pair of Kobe Bryant shorts. In 8th grade, we were taught to hand sew. We didn’t learn how to sew clothes, it was just art material. I got two Kobe Bryant jerseys and one of them sewn onto some shorts. I wore them to 6 flags for our 8th grade trip, and then my freshmen year they came out nationwide. In my mind, I was thinking somebody saw the shorts, got them copyrighted and paid for. In high school, I was making clothes as a hobby. Then when I graduated high school, I thought it was time to take it serious and I’ve just been working and moving ever since.
Ts: What kind of pieces do you make and how much do you charge?
Kg: I make jeans, shirts, all types of urban clothes. Right now I’m in the process of putting a line out for the summer of 2011. I sell clothes to my friends and just random people, but I’m not in the field of selling. But if someone was to ask me to make something, it depends on what they want. It can be anywhere from a shirt for $20, or a whole outfit for $100.
Ts: What is your clothing line called?
Kg: L.I.C., Which means Life In Clothes.
Ts: How do you make your designs? Do you draw them?
Kg: I just freestyle everything I draw.
Ts: What inspires you?
Kg: Life in general. Things I’ve been through, things I’ve seen, my past, stuff that my friends are dealing with. Just the things I’ve seen in my life.

Top Choice Fashion/Reality show!
Wats good world!? Working on this Summer 2011 release, L.I.C will be featured in this show on Feb. 6th at IIT, downtown Chicago. The designs in this show will not be in release for the summer, but more of a preview for what can be expected from the L.I.C collection! Pics from the show coming soon... Reality show premiers April 2011... stay tuned!!!

New for 2011!
Attention World, I (designer) Ramal Shine, have been working on putting this L.I.C clothing line together for the release of 2011... With that being said the newest photoshoot has been tackled to show what can be expected from the line. Local fashion designer Kevin Grove a.k.a. Ramal Shine, is making a name for himself with his clothing line L.I.C (Life In Clothes). With determination and business savvy he is proving himself to be a force to be reckoned with among the fleet of up and coming designers.
Now 20, Grove created his first design at the age of 12 while getting ready for his 8th grade class trip to Six Flags Great America. While there somebody saw the design he made for himself, liked it and made money off of the design.
TS: What Influenced you to start designing?
KG: Life experiences, going through things personally and seeing things dealing with friends.
TS: What does Fashion mean to you?
KG: Fashion is life, it's art, it is everthing a person needs to help them show the type of person they are as an individuals.
TS: How would you describe your stlye?
KG: Very stylish and loud but, also casual. I often turn heads people notice me in a good way, a real eyecatcher!
TS: How has being a Trendsetter changed your life?
KG: When i started designing it gave me something to do with my life, it gave me new meaning. I didn't want to be one of those street dudes, so designing helps me not to be.

Local fashion designer Kevin Grove lives in Galewood but was born and raised in Maywood and his life experiences have influenced his design.
He is holding his first fashion show on June 25 which will feature his L.I.C. (Life In Clothes) line.
"All the designs are mine. I've been working on them for about a year," he said. "There are three editions and lines for men and women. The show will feature a performance by Chris Shields."
Grove said his Empire edition is an everyday look; the Finished edition is an urban casual look and the better known ILPFF (pronounced Ill-piff) is an exclusive limited edition line.
"I've been sewing left and right since I was 12 years old," he said. "When I was in eighth grade we had to do a sewing project, and if we failed, we wouldn't graduate.
"When I got into high school, I took a sewing class on how to use a sewing machine and I learned how to make jeans and shirts and everything else. From there I taught myself how to design."
On a field trip to Six Flags, Grove wore a pair of Kobe Bryant shorts he had made, which lead to him getting serious about design.
"I put the team name on there, some jersey patches -- the next year I saw them in stores. Once I saw that, I said 'Someone likes my design,'" he said. "Someone saw those, made them, and got paid for them."
Grove now gets orders from different people, but is trying to get buyers to come to the show to check out his new line.
"When people give me orders, I give them a time I'll have it finished. I'm looking to work with a manufacturing company," he said. "But anything not too big I can do myself."
